SNOW PIXIE

This original design was started as a challenge. The challenge was to use blue out of your stash. Well, I used some of my blues to do all of the small machine sewn triangles then bought some metallic organdie, flocked organdy and other sheer fabrics just for the hair and face of this piece. I did this profile of my daughter Kim, by asking her to sit and do a silhouette. The pixie with hair of soft edge machine applique is flying thru the air having a great time spreading hand- beaded snowflakes over the sky. I used 2 ½ spools of Medera silver jewel thread plus many other types of metallic thread in the machine quilting. She is also a cape!

All of the triangles are machine pieced and the hair is raw edge appliqued by machine. The hand and feet are hand appliqued with all of the beading done by the sewing machine. This is an irregular size because it is a cloak as well as an art piece. Also known as wearable art.

Size 50” X 44” in a triangle shape.
