Herd of Turtles 2 Fabric Applique Quilt
This Herd of Turtle pattern is a fun reverse applique quilt that is fast and easy. Please take your time when you sew or as I did quilt it and it will be done in no time at all. The hardest part of this quilt is the marking of your design. Using a great product called Pattern Transfer Paper that is sold by the same company Pacific Rim Quilt Company.
You can buy this transfer paper and pattern at www.prqc.com. If you are lucky like I was I picked up the pattern a local quilt shop Quilty Pleasures in Simi Valley.
This pattern has three different applique methods to choose from if you don’t like the raw edge look you can needle turn and cut than satin stitch or fancy stitch it down. You get to choose which part of the fun.
I used a fun turtle batik for the turtles, binding and the backing. The light blue was to showcase the turtle fabric. Once I had the design on the fabric I made a quilt sandwich and started free motion quilting the design through all layers. I stopped after the design was sewn down to do all of the cutting that will show the turtles.
Take your time cutting so you don’t have to piece it back into the quilt.
After I did all of the cutting out I went back and quilted the rest of the piece and finished it off with our wonderful turtle fabric binding. Adding the turtle fabric for a sleeve to hang it up.
Until next time keep simply sewing arts!
