4 Quick and Easy Gifts

Here are four fun and quick sewing gifts to give.

Placemats

These beautiful sunflower placemats I made for Charlotte who is my son Robert’s wife and she loves sunflowers. We bought this great fabric while I was out there last summer. I made them up quickly and here they are.
I used this fast pattern that is quilting as you go. EZ Breezy Quilt-As-You-Go by Tiger Lily Press. Go to tigerlilypress@gmail.com and order the pattern. The next few pictures are the steps I took to get them finished.

Pillow Cases

Pillowcases are fun and easy to make. The fabrics are all done in kid trucks for my four grandsons and the last one is in pink and purples for my granddaughter. The way that I make them is a technique I learned from Creation Station in Buellton, California. You end up with all of your seams closed up in a French seam. I like this technique so much that have used this many times. I recommend that you take a Brown Bag Retreat at Creation Station. (805) 693-0174 Go to http://www.thecreationstation.com and look for the dates under Retreats.

Soft Books

I bought some children’s soft book panels at different quilt shops. The truck books were bought at Candy’s Quiltworks in Northridge, California. Candy’s doesn’t have a website but their phone number is (818) 349-7397. These soft books come in many different styles and themes for children. My grandsons are all enjoy trucks and construction vehicles which is why I made them for families with boys. These panels have the directions printed on them and are very fast to make.

Kitchen Towels

Kitchen Towels with applique are made from the same fabric as the placemats.
I took a line drawing from the internet and made it simple for my pattern. I did it all with raw edge applique and sewed it down.
